M.S.A.D.#1 Adult Education offers a variety of programs supported by federal, state, and local taxes. Your fees pay the cost not covered by tax dollars. Some programs are not state or locally funded and therefore require a higher fee and a minimum enrollment. The registration fee doesn’t cover the cost of books and materials. If the course is a required diploma course, there is no charge for workbooks, and texts must be returned. If diploma students are taking an elective class, they will be required to pay for workbooks and will have the option to purchase or return the textbooks. All students are expected to pay the lab fees for consumable materials used.
Fees for all courses are indicated in the course schedules and are due at the time of registration. Residents are those persons living in Castle Hill, Chapman, Mapleton, Presque Isle, and Westfield. Residents from other communities are always welcomed in our program. There is an additional fee of $8.00 per class for non-residents.
Senior Citizens: Adult learners, sixty (60) years and over, may attend classes at a reduced registration fee of $15.00 per class. Seniors who are not residents of M.S.A.D. #1 will be assessed a non-resident fee of $8.00 per class. All senior citizens are expected to pay lab fees, if applicable.
The following programs are at no cost to learners:
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)

- HiSET® (for Maine residents)
Payment of registration fees, materials, and books may be paid in cash or personal check to M.S.A.D. #1 Adult Education.
